Data Engineer

Absolute Business Solutions Corp supports a mission-focused Intelligence Community customer in Chantilly, VA, offering an on-site role where you can design and deliver data platforms that help teams turn diverse information into actionable insight. You’ll work within an Agile engineering environment and build scalable pipelines and workflows for structured and unstructured data.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions to retrieve, parse, transform, and process structured and unstructured data.
• Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and workflows that support analytics, reporting, and mission applications.
• Create scripts, services, and applications that convert diverse data sources into usable, standardized formats.
• Design and support scalable data platforms for ingesting, processing, storing, and delivering large volumes of information.
• Partner with analysts, developers, data engineers, and data consumers to understand mission requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Support the assessment, design, development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of data platforms.
• Develop using programming languages such as Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
• Use modern version-control and collaborative practices with tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
• Troubleshoot data-quality, ingestion, processing, and performance issues in complex data environments.
• Participate in Agile engineering activities, technical discussions, design reviews, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Support scalability, reliability, monitoring, and operation of mission data platforms.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing software used to retrieve, parse, process, or transform structured and unstructured data.
• 3+ years developing solutions using Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
• 3+ years designing or developing scalable ETL/ELT workflows supporting analytics or reporting.
• Experience delivering technical solutions in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Experience using version-control tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
• Experience building scripts or applications that transform multiple data types into usable formats.
• Ability to support scaling, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of data platforms.
• Ability to work on-site in Chantilly, VA.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain Security+ Certification within 30 days of start date.
• Able and willing to train on Snowflake and obtain Snowflake certification at employer cost.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in UNIX or Linux environments, including basic commands and Shell scripting.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with distributed data processing or computing technologies such as Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka.
• Experience developing or supporting real-time data or streaming applications.
• Experience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks.
• Experience with data warehousing technologies such as AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake.
• Experience in Agile engineering environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Current Security+ Certification.

Compensation: USD 140,000 - 240,000 per year
