Data Engineer

Centurion Consulting Group is seeking a Data Engineer to support a defense intelligence mission, working on proofs of concept and minimum viable products that apply modern AI capabilities. The role centers on building solutions using NLP, generative AI, and agentic AI, with responsibilities that span development, validation, and delivery for federal clients.

This position is based in Tampa, FL and requires an active TS/SCI clearance, with on-site work 5 days per week.

Role Summary

• Support a defense intelligence mission by developing proofs of concept and minimum viable products.
• Apply NLP, generative AI, and agentic AI methods to real-world problems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and apply GenAI and AgenticAI methods to solve complex, real-world problems.
• Create AI support materials including whitepapers, presentations, executive briefings, and reports.
• Guide federal clients with high autonomy across AI strategy and development, including exploratory data analysis, model building and validation, and deployment to both on-prem and cloud environments.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for GPS clients and the global AI partner ecosystem.
• Iterate on and/or create repeatable, reusable processes and scalable data systems that address technical and deployment challenges.
• Maintain data science best practices by staying current with new GenAI/AgenticAI methodologies, technologies, industry trends, and open source packages.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other scientists and data engineers, as well as federal account management and leadership, to support project delivery and success.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• 3+ years of experience in Python.
• 3+ years executing data science methodologies using common programming or scripting languages.
• Ability to work on-site in Tampa, FL 5 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior professional services or consulting experience.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Demonstrated breadth and depth of knowledge across functional and technical issues in AI and Data Science.
• Experience presenting to clients or other decision makers, communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.
