Data Engineer, Analytics (Ranking, AI)

Meta seeks a Data Engineer, Analytics (Ranking, AI) to collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to design scalable data solutions and architectures that enhance growth, strategy, and the experience of more than 3 billion users.

Responsibilities

• Own the data architecture for multiple large scale initiatives, weighing design options against cost and performance tradeoffs.
• Build and contribute to frameworks that improve data logging effectiveness, partnering with data infrastructure to triage issues and implement fixes.
• Work with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to translate data needs into actionable insights and present key findings visually.
• Define and manage service level agreements for data sets within your areas of ownership.
• Establish security models aligned with privacy requirements, ensure safeguards are followed, address data quality issues, and evolve governance within your domains.
• Design, construct, and deploy advanced data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across products or domains.
• Address complex data integration challenges using optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, and query techniques, sourcing from structured and unstructured data.
• Support existing production processes, optimizing code with advanced algorithmic approaches.
• Improve pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to streamline development of data artifacts.
• Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities that drive impact.
• Mentor team members through actionable feedback and guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on data work, including roles such as data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, or similar positions.
• 7+ years of experience with SQL, ETL, data modeling, and proficiency in at least one programming language (for example Python, C++, C#, Scala, or others).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable improvements in efficiency or quality.
• Active development of AI skills, including prompt engineering, context handling, and agent orchestration, with ongoing engagement with emerging AI technologies.
• Track record of implementing responsible AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and rigorous quality and accuracy reviews.

Salary range: USD 177,000 - 247,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location; base pay figures do not include bonuses or equity.
