Data Engineer II
Job Description
Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer II for an on-site role in Seattle, WA. The position centers on designing, developing, and operating large-scale data structures that support business intelligence analytics, utilizing data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, SQL, Oracle, OLAP technologies, and OBIEE reporting. You will participate in the full development lifecycle and mentor junior data engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for business intelligence analytics.
- Develop large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for business intelligence analytics.
- Implement large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for business intelligence analytics.
- Test large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for business intelligence analytics.
- Document large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for business intelligence analytics.
- Operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for business intelligence analytics.
- Apply best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, SQL, Oracle, and OLAP technologies to implement data structures.
- Provide online reporting and analysis using OBIEE business intelligence tools.
- Create a logical abstraction layer against large, multi-dimensional datasets from multiple sources.
- Gather business and functional requirements and translate them into robust, scalable solutions aligned with the data architecture.
- Analyze source data systems and promote best practices within source teams.
- Participate in the full development lifecycle from design through delivery, support, and maintenance.
- Produce comprehensive dataset documentation and metadata.
- Evaluate dataset implementations proposed by peer data engineers.
- Evaluate the use of new or existing software products and tools.
- Mentor junior data engineers.
Requirements
- Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field with one year of relevant experience.
- Alternatively, Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field with five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience, considered equivalent to the Master's degree and one year of experience.
- One year of experience in developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using ETL/ELT processes.
- One year of experience in developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using OLAP technologies.
- One year of experience in developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using data modeling.
- One year of experience in developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using SQL.
- One year of experience in developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using Oracle.
