Data Engineer II (AWS, Python, SQL)
Job Description
Data Engineer II in Hartford, CT onsite focusing on building data pipelines and production-ready data solutions for Property and General Liability pricing, collaborating with actuarial and data science teams, using AWS, Python, and SQL.
Responsibilities
- Own the end to end development and ongoing maintenance of data pipelines supporting Property and General Liability pricing use cases
- Lead the implementation of pricing models for Property and General Liability in collaboration with actuarial and data science teams
- Serve as the GL data subject matter expert to enable benchmarks, modernization efforts, and future enhancements
- Provide project leadership, planning, and execution across Property and GL data engineering initiatives
- Perform advanced data preparation tasks including exploration, cleansing, and transformation, aligned with enterprise architecture, platforms, and downstream consumers
- Convert actuarial and data science requirements into scalable, production grade data solutions
- Incorporate MLOps practices throughout the model development and deployment lifecycle
- Establish data quality controls, profiling, and monitoring for model deployment and ongoing performance
- Communicate analysis and technical recommendations to shape data architecture and implementation choices
- Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design guidance, and mentoring within the team
- Apply agile methods to plan, prioritize, and deliver across multiple concurrent initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent
- At least eight years of relevant experience
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and cloud based model implementation
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Strong foundation in data engineering concepts and building and maintaining data pipelines
- Experience with AI native solutions and modern software engineering practices such as APIs, microservices, and test automation
- Ability to decompose work into small, releasable increments
- Delivers robust end to end solutions while balancing tradeoffs
- Strong grasp of technical concepts and current industry trends
- Deep knowledge of the systems you've worked on and familiarity with adjacent systems
- Strong problem solving with a focus on building resilient, long lived systems and innovative issue resolution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with engineers, product partners, and business stakeholders
- Proven experience mentoring engineers and fostering an inclusive environment for growth
- Self motivated with a track record of proactively identifying opportunities, driving improvements, and delivering results

Compensation
Salary range: USD 126,500 - 208,700 per year
