Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer, Research Informatics
Job Description
This onsite Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer role supports Kymera Therapeutics in Research Informatics by partnering with Research and Discovery teams to build and maintain data pipelines, workflows, and informatics systems. The position collaborates with scientists, CROs, vendors, and IT to enable rapid progress in research, based in Watertown, MA.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary informatics contact for Research teams, supporting scientific applications, data engineering, standardization, workflows, and operational informatics activities.
- Support cloud-based research infrastructure and contribute to data architecture, metadata standards, and FAIR data practices.
- Design, develop, and sustain data pipelines, automations, and integrations across internal platforms and external systems.
- Administer, configure, and troubleshoot scientific applications including CDD Vault, D360, Spotfire, Benchling, and related tools.
- Collaborate directly with Biology and PSLD scientists to identify needs and deliver scalable informatics solutions quickly.
- Govern scientific data from internal teams, CROs, and external collaborators to ensure quality and consistency.
- Drive system implementations, upgrades, and vendor evaluations.
- Create and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and user training materials.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related STEM field.
- Data Engineer: 5+ years of relevant industry experience; Senior Data Engineer: 8+ years.
- Hands-on experience with research platforms such as CDD Vault, D360, Spotfire, and/or Benchling.
- Strong Python, R, and SQL development skills with a track record of building production-grade scientific tools and automations.
- Extensive experience with scientific data engineering, ETL workflows, APIs, and system integrations across diverse research data types including in vitro assays, PK/PD, proteomics, and structural biology datasets.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities with urgency, and maintain meticulous attention to detail and organizational excellence.
- Demonstrated capability to partner effectively with scientists, vendors, and CROs in a research setting.

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this role is USD 115,000 β 215,000 per year, with eligibility for annual bonus, equity participation, and comprehensive benefits. Actual salary is based on a holistic evaluation of the role level and the candidate's depth of experience and capabilities.
