The Structural Engineer role at Hayden Industrial, LLC, is based onsite in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and focuses on the design, analysis, and verification of structural systems for industrial equipment. The position balances safety, cost, manufacturability, and project schedule while collaborating closely with mechanical, thermal, drafting, manufacturing, and project management teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze structural steel frames, skids, platforms, pipe racks, and related support structures for heat exchangers and packaged systems.
- Assess loads including dead, live, wind, seismic, thermal expansion, transportation, lifting, and installation scenarios.
- Design base frames, saddles, columns, beams, bracing, lifting lugs, and tie-down features.
- Perform hand calculations and finite element analysis to validate both global and local structural behavior.
- Optimize frame designs for weight, cost, and manufacturability while meeting deflection and stress criteria.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as ASME, AISC, API, AWS, and customer specifications.
- Prepare and review calculation packages for internal review, customer approval, and third-party inspection.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure practical and cost-effective structural designs.
- Review shop drawings and resolve fabrication-related structural issues.
- Support lifting, rigging, and transportation planning for large heat exchanger assemblies.
- Coordinate with thermal, mechanical, and process engineers to integrate structural requirements into overall equipment design.
- Work with drafting and design teams to ensure accurate models and drawings.
- Provide technical input during design reviews, project kickoffs, and customer meetings.
- Participate in internal design reviews and lessons-learned activities.
- Identify opportunities to standardize structural details and improve design efficiency.
- Support root cause analysis for structural nonconformances or field issues.
Requirements
- 3–8+ years of experience designing structural steel frames and skids for industrial or heavy manufacturing equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with a strong structural emphasis.
- Strong understanding of steel design, welded connections, bolted joints, and load path development.
- Proficiency with AISC-based design methods and structural analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, STAAD, SAP2000, or similar).
- Ability to produce clear, well-documented structural calculation packages suitable for customer and third-party review.

Work Environment
The role primarily operates in a professional office setting and relies on standard office equipment.
