Job Description
Apple is seeking a Data Scientist to lead end-to-end data science solutions for complex supply chain business process re-engineering, leveraging GenAI and agentic AI.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business teams by translating in-depth requirement conversations into technical solution plans and driving critical projects
- Design and architect end-to-end data science solutions, selecting established methods or engineering novel algorithms for supply chain problems
- Work with data engineers and infrastructure partners to implement robust solutions and operationalize models using MLOps and CI/CD practices
- Continuously improve deployed solutions through monitoring, feedback loops, and iterative updates to match evolving business needs
- Present key findings to leadership in non-technical terms, connecting outputs to business impact
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, including GenAI and agentic frameworks, plus advanced visualization tools, to expand team capabilities
- Promote a culture of experimentation and continuous learning across reporting, business analytics, and AI-powered automation
- Build custom models, algorithms, and interactive visualizations, including dashboards and self-service tools, to scale Supply Chain insights
- Wrangle and analyze data to surface patterns, trends, and feature engineering opportunities
- Define and track key performance metrics to quantify the value delivered by deployed data science solutions
Requirements
- Education and experience: PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Data Science, Operations Research, or related field and 5+ years industry experience, or MS in related field with 8+ years hands-on industry experience
- Demonstrated experience in forecasting, optimization, or simulation within supply chain or operations domains
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment and deliver under timeline pressure
- Proven experience building and deploying large-scale data science and machine learning models, including anomaly detection, NLP, and deep learning, with MLOps, model versioning, and CI/CD pipelines for production AIML workflows
- Software prototyping and development experience in programming languages such as Python, plus advanced SQL for data manipulation
- Experience prototyping and building scalable solutions with GenAI, emphasizing agentic solutions using MCP servers, agents, and skills
- Experience with data acquisition (e.g., SQL), data mining, and data visualization; strong background in AIML libraries/frameworks including Scikit Learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
- Experience prototyping and implementing data science pipelines and applications in Python, Java, or C++
- Track record of staying current with best practices, adopting emerging technologies such as LLMs, RAG, and vector databases, and validating concepts through functional prototypes
- Ability to own and deliver end-to-end projects from scoping through deployment and post-launch iteration
- Proficiency with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, relational databases such as MySQL, interactive front-end frameworks such as Streamlit, Tableau, and ThoughtSpot, plus containerization/orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Working knowledge of predictive modeling and classification, including regression, clustering, and anomaly detection
- Strong ability to translate complex AI/ML concepts into clear business narratives, with data storytelling and presenting analysis to influence senior leadership and cross-functional partners
- Self-sufficient and able to thrive with autonomy in ambiguous environments
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across functions, share knowledge, communicate findings, and incorporate feedback
Preferred Qualifications
- Meticulous attention to detail, data integrity, and data wrangling
- Experience delivering end-to-end projects with an execution-focused mindset
- High intellectual curiosity to learn and understand business needs
- Self-sufficient style with ability to thrive in autonomy amidst ambiguity
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills across functions, including sharing knowledge and integrating diverse feedback
