Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and document mechanical systems, equipment installations, and laboratory subsystems
• Develop end-to-end engineering solutions that meet customer specs, regulatory standards, and program goals
• Independently create, revise, and manage 3D CAD models, drawings, and supporting documentation per company standards and ASME Y14.5
• Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials and design data under configuration control
• Support structural, thermal, and other analyses to inform design decisions
• Coordinate with engineering, project management, vendors, and customers to assemble complete engineering solutions and data packages
• Assist in producing certification artifacts, compliance substantiation, engineering reports, test plans, and supporting documentation
• Assess manufacturability, maintainability, serviceability, installation considerations, and lifecycle impacts during design
• Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, installation, troubleshooting, testing, and activation
• Participate in design reviews and offer guidance on safety, performance, reliability, maintainability, and regulatory compliance
• Maintain engineering data under configuration control and ensure outputs align with company standards
• Contribute to continuous improvement, development of engineering standards, modeling practices, and lessons learned
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
• Experience designing, analyzing, integrating, and documenting aircraft structures, mechanical systems, equipment installations, or aircraft modifications
• Professional CSWP certification in SolidWorks or higher, or demonstrated equivalent proficiency using SolidWorks for production quality engineering data
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, sheet metal, drawing creation, and design documentation
• Working knowledge of engineering principles, ASME Y14.5 GD&T, materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical system integration
• Experience creating engineering drawings, BOMs, technical reports, specifications, and supporting documentation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to coordinate effectively with Engineering, Production, Quality, Program Management, vendors, and customers
• Ability to work remotely

Nice to have

• Five or more years of experience supporting engineering product development programs
• Experience independently developing complete engineering solutions from concept through implementation, including reports, substantiation documents, installation instructions, test procedures, and certification support documentation
• SolidWorks Certified Expert (CSWE) and/or additional CSWPA specialty certifications (Sheet Metal, Drawing Tools, Weldments, Surfacing, etc.)
• Experience supporting structural, thermal, vibration, fatigue, or other analyses to support design activities
