Salary: USD 110,000 - 135,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute deterministic safety analyses to show SMR-300 safety and licensing compliance
  • Assess reactor behavior during anticipated operational occurrences and design basis accidents, including thermal-hydraulic response, core performance, and radiological consequences
  • Examine key plant systems such as the reactor core, reactor coolant system, engineered safety features, and containment
  • Assist in preparing licensing documentation, including safety analysis reports and responses to regulatory inquiries
  • Develop, maintain, and apply analytical methods and computer models used in safety analyses
  • Conduct verification and validation of analysis codes to ensure accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate design inputs into safety evaluations
  • Produce detailed technical reports, calculations, and documentation in line with quality assurance standards such as NQA-1
  • Ensure analyses are traceable and reproducible and adhere to regulatory and industry requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of thermal-hydraulic behavior of light water reactors
  • Experience with industry safety codes such as RELAP5, RETRAN, COBRA, VIPRE, GOTHIC, etc
  • Minimum of three years of experience developing or applying LWR safety analysis codes and methods
  • Strong technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810
