DevOps Software Engineer III

Columbus, OH (onsite) role on JPMorganChase’s Branch Technologies Team, where you’ll deliver trusted, secure, stable, and scalable technology solutions. As a Software Engineer III (DevOps), you’ll help design and run production software, support cloud infrastructure stability, and use enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools with a strong validation and secure coding focus. You’ll work as a seasoned member of an agile team that builds with confidence and continuous improvement in mind.

What you’ll do

• Execute end-to-end software solutions across design, development, and technical troubleshooting, applying structured thinking to solve problems beyond routine approaches.
• Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with the appropriate systems.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring software development meets design constraints.
• Gather, analyze, synthesize, and visualize/report from large, diverse data sets to support continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
• Proactively identify hidden problems and data patterns, using insights to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events exploring emerging technologies.
• Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables such as code generation or refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
• Apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle toolchain practices, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation, to increase value delivered through automation.

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of experience performing DevOps and production SRE tasks, including maintaining cloud infrastructure and ensuring environment stability.
• Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation, with the ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations and secure handling of inputs and outputs, plus the ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
• Proficiency coding in one or more languages.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
• Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc.).
