Distribution Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineer & Designer in Chicago, IL to support electric utility distribution design engineering and build work packages using customer GIS/WMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform electric utility distribution design engineering for Leidos customers
• Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, and Make Ready using customer GIS and WMS systems such as EFD, AUD, Smallworld, ArcGIS, Infor, EAM, STORMS, and Maximo
• Manage scope, schedule, and budget for assigned work
• Complete functional tasks, planning activities, and/or customer follow-up
• Conduct scope analysis for assigned work and maintain schedule adherence to support client priorities
• Drive continuous improvement in workflow processes to improve efficiency and maintain high-quality client design deliverables
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements
• Assess and develop large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments
• Support work permit development, easements, and ROW applications
• Work in both field and office environments, including local or regional customer-site visits to collect field data used in work package development

Requirements

• 2+ years of prior relevant experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred (additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)
• Experience and demonstrated proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
• Some prior experience with:
  • Structural analysis
  • Guying calculations
  • Cable pulling calculations
  • Coordination of protective devices
  • Electric demand and fault current calculations
• Ability to provide reliable transportation for anticipated local or regional customer-related travel (job-related travel reimbursed at IRS-approved rates)
• Demonstrated strength in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication

Pay

• USD 59,150 - 106,925 per year
• Pay range is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation
