Electrical Design Engineer

Mac Incorporated is seeking an Electrical / Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design Engineer to help deliver electrical and controls upgrades at a nuclear power facility in Columbia, AL 36319 (onsite). This role offers a competitive salary range of USD 90,000 - 160,000 per year and full relocation is offered.

In this position, you will lead engineering design efforts for plant modifications, retrofits, and equipment upgrades. You will also provide technical support during installation, refueling outages, and post-modification testing, coordinating across project and plant teams to keep design requirements on track.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical and/or Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) designs for plant modifications and upgrades.
• Prepare and update engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
• Develop project cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications.
• Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and support constructability.
• Provide technical oversight of designs produced by outside Architect/Engineering firms.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Implementation Engineers, and plant personnel to ensure design requirements are met.
• Support installation and implementation of plant modifications.
• Provide engineering support during refueling outages, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Support and oversee post-modification testing.
• Manage special engineering projects as assigned.
• Participate in on-call Duty Engineer and Emergency Plan response assignments.
• Be capable of reporting to the plant within 90 minutes when required for Emergency Plan responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution OR a Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Working knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards required.
• Strong engineering calculation, technical documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred.
• Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation & Controls engineering background.
• Nuclear power plant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of nuclear industry regulatory requirements preferred.
• Knowledge of BWR systems, structures, and components preferred.
• Electrical power system analysis and protection experience preferred.
• Experience with ETAP and/or CAPTOR preferred.
