Job Description

Refine electrical designs to U.S. standards and deliver new electrical control systems for fully automated indoor vertical farms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering support for machine design serving food processing facilities
  • Develop UL508A-compliant control panel designs
  • Specify and select standard and hygienic electrical equipment, including motors and instrumentation
  • Use project management techniques to maintain schedule, budget, and quality targets for electrical deliverables
  • Create and revise electrical drawing sets, including:
    • Schematics
    • Cabinet layouts
    • Network topology diagrams
  • Prepare design documentation and calculations for:
    • Motor sizing
    • Machine load calculations
    • Cable sizing
    • Earthing and protection schemes
  • Produce machine technical specifications and operation and maintenance manuals
  • Create commissioning plans, test sheets, checklists, and schedules
  • Coordinate with installation and commissioning teams to support build readiness and handover
  • Perform on-site commissioning and provide remote commissioning support for internal and external teams

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.) or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (B.E.E.) from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Experience: 3-5+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on machine design and industrial control panel build, preferably in automation, robotics, or food processing environments
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and ability to independently develop drawing packages
  • Competence in low-voltage (LV) design, switchgear selection, and control systems
  • Experience with project planning and document management
  • Hands-on experience with machine design, panel layouts, and harness design
  • Willingness to travel interstate to support installations and operational needs
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. state-specific wiring rules and relevant standards for California/Nevada
  • UL 508A
  • NFPA 79 and the NEC
  • UL 508A certification highly regarded
  • Experience with OSHA/ANSI/IEC standards for Functional Safety & Machine Safety highly regarded
  • Previous experience in food processing facilities highly regarded

Location and Schedule

Job Details

  • Job type: Full-time
  • Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 per year
  • Experience minimum: 3 years
