Electrical Engineer III
Job Description
Micro Control Company is hiring an Electrical Engineer III to support the full product lifecycle of MCC burn-in systems at our Arden Hills, MN site. In this role, you will customize industrial power delivery, produce electrical documentation, specify control hardware, and help ensure designs pass verification and troubleshooting through manufacturing.
You will also function as a subject matter expert for industrial system power design, with a focus on electrical safety standards, conformance, and facility interconnection requirements. The position includes hands-on technical work alongside cross-functional teams to support large-scale projects and customer-driven engineering changes.
Responsibilities
- Help lead end-to-end development of the power delivery system, including concepting, prototype development, testing, and final design release.
- Create system schematics, panel layouts, wire lists, bill of materials, and procedures that support operations.
- Select and specify machine control hardware, including programmable logic controllers, related modules, and interconnected I/O devices.
- Customize power delivery systems to meet customer expectations, including direct customer conversations to clarify power requirements.
- Serve as a technical expert for electrical machine safety standards and industrial power interconnection.
- Develop design verifications and manufacturing tests to confirm electrical component and system functionality.
- Troubleshoot with Production and Purchasing to resolve unexpected issues tied to product design, implementation, and components.
- Partner with Sales and Field Service to support customer issues and develop required Engineering and Field Change Orders.
- Work cross-functionally to identify root cause of errors and define corrective action plans.
- Communicate engineering information across teams and departments to support successful completion of large-scale projects.
- Provide technical support to junior team members and review project schematic work as needed.
- Lead initial and ongoing design reviews.
- Perform other related duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in industrial system design and power control.
- Hands-on experience with industrial power systems.
- Knowledge of Electrical Safety Standards, including one or more: NFPA 79, NFPA 70, IEC 60204, SEMI S22, UL508.
- Thorough understanding of modern electronic systems and component materials.
- Ability to analyze problems from multiple perspectives and explore creative solutions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments.
- Experience designing and developing electromechanical assemblies.
- Experience with international low voltage (<600VAC) power systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automation of industrial electromechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of ERP Systems and Manufacturing Systems.
