Electrical / I&C Design Engineer

The Electrical / I&C Design Engineer role supports engineering design and modification activities for Plant Farley Nuclear Power Plant near Dothan, AL. This onsite position in Columbia, AL focuses on developing and maintaining electrical and instrumentation and controls design deliverables, coordinating with internal teams and external engineering firms to meet design requirements.

Role Summary

At Plant Farley Nuclear Power Plant, the Electrical / I&C Design Engineer contributes to design development, updates to calculations, drawing changes, and planning support through cost and schedule estimates for plant modifications and retrofits. The role also includes field walk downs for as-built verification and design constructability, along with design oversight responsibilities to ensure required outcomes are met across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate design development activities.
• Develop and update engineering calculations.
• Make and coordinate drawing changes.
• Prepare project cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications and retrofits.
• Perform field walk downs in industrial environments for as-built verification and design constructability.
• Provide design oversight for products produced by external Architect / Engineering firms.
• Interface with project managers, implementation engineers, and other plant department personnel to ensure design requirements are met.
• Manage special projects and support key refueling outage roles, including design implementation oversight, problem solving and issue resolution, and conducting post modification testing.
• Fulfill on-call duty engineer and emergency plan response requirements.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

• BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or a PE license.
• 3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience preferred.
• Nuclear power plant experience preferred.
• Background in engineering with working knowledge of applicable discipline codes and standards required.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the nuclear power industry preferred.
• Working knowledge in PWR Systems, structures and components preferred.
• Previous experience in electrical power system analysis and protection software tools such as ETAP or CAPTOR preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proven organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects at once.
• Ability to work efficiently across organizations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT.
