Electrical Controls Engineer

Orion Placement is hiring an Electrical Controls Engineer for an on-site role in Gainesville, GA focused on industrial control panel and system design using EPLAN.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop industrial electrical control panels, including wiring diagrams and AC/DC control system layouts using EPLAN and EPLAN Pro Panel.
• Lead electrical design work for systems involving PLC, HMI, VFD, soft starters, relay logic, and industrial networking.
• Collaborate with the UL508A panel shop to support panel construction, quality, and technical requirements.
• Create electrical deliverables including electrical schematics, P&IDs, component specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Work with project managers, engineers, vendors, and purchasing teams to help keep projects on schedule.
• Provide technical guidance during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting for electrical control systems.
• Develop and improve electrical design standards, panel-building procedures, and engineering documentation.
• Review and refine designs to optimize performance, increase system reliability, and improve execution across projects.

Requirements

• EPLAN Pro Panel experience: 1+ years (required).
• Electrical field experience: 3+ years (required).
• Strong background designing industrial control panels and electrical wiring schematics.
• Knowledge of VFDs, soft starters, AC/DC control systems, and industrial electrical components.
• Ability to produce accurate electrical drawings, component specifications, and BOMs.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and project coordination.
• Capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and field teams.

Pay

• $95,000 to $130,000 per year

Additional Notes

• EPLAN experience is mandatory, with 1+ years hands-on EPLAN Pro Panel design and 3+ years electrical field experience.
