Electrical Reliability Engineer
Job Description
Linde is hiring an Electrical Reliability Engineer to help keep production facilities safe, dependable, and cost-efficient. The role is based onsite in Ontario, CA with regional support responsibility, reporting to the Reliability Manager. You will work alongside the regional reliability team and plant and corporate personnel to deliver tactical reliability goals and drive practical improvements across industrial gas production operations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical resource for maintenance and reliability of electrical distribution equipment including low/medium/high voltage switchgear and transformers, as well as synchronous and induction motors.
- Monitor and support preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including transformer oil testing, thermography, and partial discharge analysis, and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
- Identify and address regional chronic electrical asset concerns, including managing “bad actor” equipment.
- Develop and execute small electrical expense and capital projects (under $500k) focused on reliability improvement.
- Manage resolution planning for long-term electrical asset concerns and emerging reliability threats.
- Assess equipment performance data to support optimal and efficient performance of regional electrical assets.
- Assist with corrective-maintenance, preventive-maintenance, and project cost estimation for regional assets.
- Support turnaround planning and execution for regional electrical assets.
- Lead the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process for major electrical failures.
- Drive resolution of the highest-impact issues with urgency and integrity.
Requirements
- Associate/Bachelor Degree in Engineering and minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance/reliability engineering in an industrial manufacturing environment focused on electrical assets; or non-degreed with minimum 15 years of experience in the same domain.
- Proven experience installing and troubleshooting electrical distribution systems, including low/medium/high voltage switchgear, transformers, and synchronous and induction motors.
- Proven knowledge of electrical preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies and technologies.
- Proven communication, team interaction, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and to lead and participate on cross-functional teams.
- Proven self-starter skills managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with computers and standard software packages, including MS Office and e-mail, as well as experience using CMMS systems.

Position Overview
- Onsite role at the Ontario, CA location with regional support.
- Works with the regional reliability team and other corporate/regional/plant personnel to meet tactical reliability goals.
- Objective is to ensure safe and reliable operation of production facilities at the lowest life cycle cost.
- Identifies, develops, and implements innovative solutions for electrical system and asset issues across air separation, CO2, Liquid Hydrogen, HyCO, and other industrial gas production facilities.
- Expected to make technical decisions and recommendations, both independently and as part of a team.
Work Requirements
- Full-time, in-person
- Typically requires approximately 25% domestic travel
- Occasionally requires accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in maintenance management or team leadership for exempt and non-exempt employees/contractors executing planned and emergency work.
- Understanding of regulatory and industrial standards and codes.
- Understanding of control and instrumentation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience using engineering documentation software (SKM Power Tools, AutoCad, Visio, etc.).
- Experience with electrical distribution system equipment software packages (SEL AcSELerator, GE 469, ABB, Siemens, etc.).
- Knowledge of reliability methodologies and strategies such as RCM, TPM, FMEA, RCA, Spare Parts Management, Planning & Scheduling, and CMMS optimization.
