Job Description
General Dynamics Information Technology offers a hybrid role in Arlington, VA for an F-35 Air Systems Cybersecurity Engineer on the F-35 Lightning II Program. The targeted salary range is $114,750 to $155,250 per year, depending on experience and location.
Responsibilities
- Lead information system security engineering activities across the F-35 Air System and Ground Support, shaping security requirements for both aircraft systems and associated ground support.
- Capture and refine Aircraft System and Ground Support security requirements and ensure their effective integration into Air System and ground support information systems through security architecture, design, development, and configuration, applying best practices for the F-35 Air System.
- Ensure the Air System, including the Air Vehicle and Ground Support information systems, incorporates required security features and safeguards; provide daily Cybersecurity engineering support and oversee security deliverables, POA&M resolution, and continuous monitoring.
- Verify Security Authorization Packages (SAP) accuracy and completeness, deliver them to ISSE/IASAE/SCA government oversight, and witness dry-run compliance testing ahead of Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
- Manage embedded resources, mentor other ISSE/IASAE staff on the Air Systems team, and advise GD leadership; support Air System, Flight Test Systems, and Program Office functional teams.
- Translate security requirements into design, ensuring alignment with the Systems Engineering Master Plan (SEMP), CS Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), Cyber Survivability Endorsement (CSE) requirements, and DoW CS compliance mandates.
- Develop Air System Cybersecurity Policies and Instructions for program‑wide issuance by the F-35 CISO; provide engineering and architectural guidance for interoperability, security, and performance; lead and mentor other ISSE/IASAEs on the contract.
Requirements
- Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
- 5+ years designing and developing organizational information systems or upgrading legacy systems, applying security controls across software engineering, system security engineering, secure design, architecture, and secure coding practices.
- 1+ years of practical airframe or weapon system security experience in secure network and system design, analysis, test generation, test execution, and implementation of security mechanisms.
- 5 years of experience working on weapons systems platforms as a security engineer.
- 5 years of concurrent experience in system security Certification & Accreditation (C&A).
- 5 years of concurrent experience in Vulnerability Assessment and/or Risk Analysis.
- DoD Manual 8140.03 (612) Security Control Assessor - Intermediate certification.
- MS/MA/BS/BA in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering Information Technology, Information Science, Mathematics, or a related IT discipline; or substitution for Air Systems experts: specific F-35 IT major defense acquisition systems experience may substitute for the degree on a year‑for‑year basis, or a combination of degree and experience.
- Hybrid work arrangement with partial onsite support in Arlington, VA; US citizenship required.
- Travel: 10-25% as needed.
