Facilities Design Engineer

The Facilities Design Engineer role focuses on supporting WSIC projects tied to the Trident II missile program. The position emphasizes developing and reviewing facility design packages, specifications, and cost estimates, while verifying that constructed facilities align with design intent through site visits. This is an onsite role near the Lockheed Martin Space facility in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Role and Responsibilities

• Support design and construction of Weapons System Infrastructure & Capabilities (WSIC) projects, including major facility modifications, construction efforts, and support equipment installation for the Trident II missile.
• During the design phase, develop and review facility engineering design packages, comprising drawings and sketches, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
• Evaluate facility designs for compliance with engineering principles, best practices, company standards and policies, customer contract requirements, and applicable specifications and regulations.
• During construction, review and interpret construction plans and specifications to ensure they reflect the intended design.
• Conduct regular site visits to verify that built facilities meet design specifications and company requirements.
• Identify construction deviations or deficiencies and report them to the project team, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel
• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required

Work Schedule and Hours

• Schedule for this position: 9x80 with every other Friday off
• Alternate work schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of schedules, including standard 40 hours over five days or condensed options to provide additional time away from the office, in addition to Paid Time Off benefits
