Facilities Mechanical Engineer

Leidos is hiring an experienced Facilities Mechanical Engineer (onsite) to lead mechanical systems design, maintenance, and configuration management for mission-critical sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development activities from concept through production
• Create and review AutoCAD design documents, submittals, and site-specific specifications
• Partner with cross-functional teams (electrical, systems, software, and manufacturing) to ensure mechanical designs meet functional and environmental requirements
• Perform engineering analyses to confirm mechanical designs for operational conditions
• Develop and maintain comprehensive site documentation
• Troubleshoot design and maintenance challenges and recommend or implement corrective actions
• Ensure designs and operations align with applicable building codes, energy standards, and industry regulations

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 10+ years; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree
• At least 10 years experience in mechanical systems design, including HVAC and plumbing, for commercial, industrial, or government facilities
• Strong working knowledge of building codes, energy standards, and regulatory frameworks
• Ability to perform heating and cooling load calculations, ductwork sizing/layout, piping system design, and equipment selection
• CAD experience, specifically AutoCAD
• Experience developing mechanical systems for commercial HVAC applications
• Effective communication skills with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory authorities
• Familiarity with Facility Management Control Systems (FMCS)
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within one year of hire

Pay Range: USD 131,300 - 237,350 per yearly
