Frontend Engineer - UI/UX Focus
Job Description
Zettabyte is building user-focused experiences for complex systems, and this hybrid role in Palo Alto pairs interface design with production engineering. You will move from concept to implementation, shaping how the UI looks and how it connects to live data and APIs.
What you’ll do
- Design user interfaces and workflows in Figma, producing mockups and prototypes
- Implement your designs in Vue.js (primary) and Next.js
- Collaborate with backend engineers to design and consume RESTful and GraphQL APIs
- Build reliable state management and data-fetching layers for complex UI requirements
- Own the end-to-end design-to-code pipeline for new features
- Create intuitive dashboards and visualizations using real-time API data
- Handle loading patterns, API error states, and data synchronization to keep experiences consistent
- Conduct user research, define user flows, and iterate based on feedback
- Balance visual design goals with technical constraints and performance needs
What we’re looking for
- 4+ years combined experience in frontend development and UI/UX design
- Strong experience with Vue.js (Vue 3 preferred), plus React/Next.js, TypeScript, and modern CSS
- Experience integrating with APIs, handling async data, and managing state (such as Pinia/Vuex and Redux)
- Proficiency with REST APIs, GraphQL, and WebSocket connections
- Understanding of API design principles and the ability to provide feedback to backend teams
- Figma proficiency for production-ready design work
- A portfolio that demonstrates both design output and implemented projects
- Solid design fundamentals including typography, color theory, spacing, and visual hierarchy
- Experience taking features from concept through implementation
Tools you’ll use
Figma, Vue.js, Vue 3, Next.js, React, TypeScript, modern CSS, Pinia, Vuex, Redux, REST APIs, GraphQL, WebSocket connections, and RESTful/GraphQL APIs.

Role details
- Location: Palo Alto, CA (hybrid). 3 days in office, 2 days WFH. Must locate in Palo Alto.
