Geotechnical Engineer

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is hiring a Geotechnical Engineer for the Charlotte, North Carolina office. This onsite role supports construction observation and geotechnical investigation efforts, including field coordination, laboratory coordination, engineering calculations, and proposal and budget development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide task support to the Construction Observation & Testing group
• Coordinate and manage drilling projects, including oversight of junior staff involved in drilling activities, visual classification, and log preparation
• Coordinate and review laboratory testing results
• Produce accurate geotechnical exploration reports
• Complete geotechnical engineering calculations, including settlement, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressures, pavement section designs, and slope stability
• Generate project scopes and fees for new work, and prepare complete proposals and budgets

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field of study
• P.E. or EIT is required
• 4 to 7 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience
• Own transportation, valid driver’s license, and a good driving record
• Enjoy working outdoors

Preferred Certifications

• NICET, ACI, and/or other certifications desired
