Geotechnical Engineer - Mid-Level
Job Description
Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking a mid-level Geotechnical Engineer to lead the geotechnical components across projects and deliver design and construction recommendations. This onsite role in Baltimore, MD combines technical analysis, report preparation, and field coordination to support foundation design and ground improvement decisions. The position offers a salary range of USD 100,000 to 180,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Oversee geotechnical services to ensure quality, timeliness, and budget adherence
- Prepare and update reports, specifications, plan details, and project designs
- Act as a technical resource within a multidisciplinary team
- Plan and manage subsurface exploration programs
- Develop cost estimates, define scope of work, and prepare proposals
- Coordinate design efforts to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Utilize design software to formulate engineering recommendations
- Contribute to Design/Build project efforts
- Advise on constructability and cost implications related to field conditions, sequencing, and construction scheduling
- Onsite work with clients or at project offices as needed
- Engage in project scoping, fee estimating, proposal preparation, and interview activities
- Perform design calculations and investigations to support design recommendations and the development of contract documents (plans, specs, and estimates)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree specializing in Geotechnical Engineering
- Master’s degree specializing preferred
- 11–15 years of geotechnical design experience
- Experience with static and dynamic load testing highly desired
- Field experience related to site grading, slope stabilization, retaining walls, and foundation construction highly desired
- Professional Engineer Certification required
- Design Build experience preferred
