I&C Design Engineer III
Job Description
Join CRB in Conshohocken, PA for an onsite I&C role that combines design leadership with hands-on automation control system work. This position offers the chance to guide discipline execution on small to medium projects, coordinate across engineering and construction stakeholders, and grow through exposure to multiple phases of I&C delivery, from planning through construction documentation and administration. Compensation is USD 100,000 - 140,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Interface with clients and external partners to support effective project coordination.
- Plan and direct I&C discipline work while managing the project budget from a discipline design perspective on small projects of limited complexity.
- Under the supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer, support proposal development.
- During site walks and construction field surveys, identify basic non-compliant existing conditions.
- Develop internal discipline design and engineering training presentations.
- Create construction drawing packages and write construction specifications on intermediate projects of limited complexity with little oversight.
- Lead squad check and discipline check for small projects of intermediate complexity, supporting overall project quality.
- Mentor Engineer I and/or Designer I and II within the discipline.
- Lead intermediate project system design programming and master planning with support from a Lead or Senior Engineer.
- Oversee the I&C discipline on small to medium projects of limited complexity, coordinating internal/external engineers and client and construction stakeholders through design phases up to construction documentation and administration.
Requirements
- ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in a discipline-specific field of study: ChemE, ME, or EE.
- Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting.

Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam registration or completion.
- Intermediate knowledge of cGMP manufacturing environments.
- Intermediate experience with instrumentation and controls engineering calculations, and developing and implementing I&C system design.
- Intermediate experience implementing foundational design aspects of control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, and field wiring plans.
- Intermediate experience developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Intermediate experience with the electrical code and other applicable industry standards.
- Intermediate experience with applicable mechanical and building codes.
- Basic experience and knowledge of designing Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Proficiency coordinating intermediate cross-discipline project teams internally and externally.
- Proficiency coordinating with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers.
- Proficient at intermediate lists of discipline systems design calculations with limited supervision.
- Basic experience with troubleshooting discipline and system issues.
