Job Description
INEOS Styrolution America LLC has an onsite opportunity at its Cooper River Plant in Wando, South Carolina for an Instrument & Electrical Engineer who will help maintain and enhance the site’s instrument, electrical, and control infrastructure. In this role, you will provide I&E engineering support across multi-discipline initiatives while focusing on reliability improvements, technical support, and practical design and PLC execution.
Working within the Cooper River Plant environment, you will collaborate with site teams to support day-to-day troubleshooting and long-term project delivery, ensuring work aligns with site and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Promote and demonstrate behaviors that support a safe work environment.
- Lead and/or support multi-discipline project teams, managing development and execution of projects aligned with site and business objectives, with an emphasis on I&E scope.
- Drive reliability improvements and support maintenance and repairs for electrical equipment and power distribution systems up to 34.5 kV.
- Provide timely technical support for instrumentation and electrical systems through monitoring, troubleshooting, and field engagement.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve reliability, and enhance safety and environmental performance.
- Deliver I&E engineering design, PLC programming, and technical guidance; manage contractors and project deliverables for larger controls projects.
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory standards, maintain accurate I&E documentation, and provide technical training to personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- I&E experience supporting manufacturing.
- Design and engineering practice including instrumentation, general purpose PLC specification and programming, area classification, power distribution and control, motor controls, lighting design and/or process analyzers.
- At least 5 years of experience interfacing and supporting operations and maintenance teams.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience troubleshooting and maintenance engineering.
- Ability to influence multi-disciplinary teams.

Desirable Criteria / Qualifications
- Honeywell TDC3000 and/or Experion hardware experience.
- Experience across multiple platforms: Triconex, August Systems, Allen Bradley PLS.
- Safety instrumented system experience.
- Prior chemical plant, refinery, or related industry experience.
- Project engineering experience.
