IT Lead Data Engineer

BDO is hiring an IT Lead Data Engineer in the United States (onsite) to lead delivery of data extraction, transformation, storage, and platform governance.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders and data architects to define and design data solutions supporting Firm data initiatives
• Identify where Firm data assets reside and design integrations across disparate sources to solve problems and deliver business value
• Coordinate with project managers to provide effort estimates and deliver technical leadership for solution design and requirements
• Work with data governance to apply data principles across day-to-day data usage and solution design
• Create mock-up solution designs, visualizations, and reports to demonstrate proposed deliverables
• Serve as a subject matter expert and educator for data platforms and best practices related to data usage and hygiene
• Meet regularly with business line customers to understand business processes and evolving data needs to identify data-related opportunities
• Collaborate with data scientists and developers to apply advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, to find patterns and trends in Firm data
• Build and maintain working relationships with project teams, vendors, and other departments across projects, systems, and IT strategies
• Act as a technical lead by reviewing solution designs, conducting code reviews, and troubleshooting advanced technical issues
• Drive continuous improvement to keep Firm data accurate and timely
• Coordinate with Information Security and Compliance teams to ensure data strategy and technologies align with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with BDO Global and other BDO member firms to follow organization standards and support reusable models and rapid deployment of shared technology
• Follow Project Management basics and Project Management Office policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as required

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• 8+ years working as a data engineer, data analyst, or similar analyst/engineer role (required)
• 8+ years working with PowerBI, Tableau, or similar data visualization products (required)
• 5+ years working within commercial cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP (required)
• 3+ years using version control tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub (required)
• Demonstrable proficiency developing and understanding custom and ad-hoc SQL queries (required)
• Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel (required)
• Strong proficiency in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or similar (required)
• Strong proficiency in PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or similar (required)

• Professional service firm experience (preferred)

Preferred Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Mathematics, or Statistics (preferred)

Compensation: USD 138,000 - 170,000 per year
