Job Description

Intramotev is building self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles, and is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to own the electrical architecture, integration approach, and component-level requirements across the full vehicle electrical stack. In this hands-on technical leadership role, you will guide a team of 4–6 engineers while making the critical calls that connect high-voltage energy systems to control electronics that interface with the autonomy stack.

Role overview

You will own the electrical requirements and integration for traction-class energy systems, spanning high-voltage (HV) energy storage, distribution, and conversion through vehicle wiring and control electronics. Intramotev specifies and qualifies supplied electronics and energy-storage hardware, and you will carry responsibility for those requirements and integration activities from concept through production and into the field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical direction of a team of 4–6 electrical engineers, including day-to-day tasking, design reviews, technical mentoring, and skills development, while unblocking the team on the most challenging electrical problems.
  • Own electrical architecture across HV energy systems, control units and remote I/O, harness and low-voltage distribution, and traction or motor control electronics, making trade-offs across performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Define and own functional and performance requirements for every electrical component and system, carrying those requirements through integration and validation, including for hardware that is purchased rather than built.
  • Direct architecture and integration for HV energy storage, distribution, and conversion, including charging and motor control, isolation, and electrical safety for traction-class energy systems.
  • Drive ECUs and remote I/O modules from requirements through supplier selection, integration, bring-up, and validation, including transition from prototype hardware to qualified production units.
  • Own harness architecture, routing, connector selection, and harness documentation in RapidHarness, along with low-voltage power, communications, and sensing that connect the HV system into vehicle controls, perception, and safety.
  • Set team standards for design, test, and validation, taking electrical hardware from concept through design validation and into production, including EMC/EMI mitigation on high-power drivetrains.
  • Serve as the primary electrical point of contact for systems, software, mechanical, and manufacturing leadership, ensuring clean hardware/software interfaces, and owning relationships with key suppliers and a contract-manufacturer partnership for electronics and harness builds.
  • Own electrical release and change control, resolve issues on fielded systems, and lead root-cause analysis to closure across the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of electrical engineering and design experience for vehicles or complex industrial equipment, including time in a technical leadership role.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership of engineers, including day-to-day tasking, design review, technical mentoring, and skill development.
  • Hands-on ownership across all three areas: (1) electronic control unit or embedded hardware development (in-house or supplier-specified and qualified), (2) wire harness and low-voltage distribution design, and (3) high-voltage energy storage or power-conversion systems.
  • Experience taking electrical hardware from concept through design validation and into production.
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond current expertise and develop innovative approaches.
  • Comfort working in a team environment both as an individual contributor and as a leader.
  • Fluency in written and verbal English.
  • U.S. Person requirement: no immigration or work visa sponsorship will be provided.
