Job Description
The Licensed Engineer role supports Seafarers Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship by delivering classes from a provided curriculum. The position includes monthly four-day training voyages aboard the school vessel Freedom Star and collaboration with unlicensed apprentice crew, within a dynamic educational setting.

- Employment type: Full-time
- Compensation: USD 25 - 50 per hour
Responsibilities
- The role involves teaching classes using the provided curriculum.
- Monthly four-day training voyages on the school vessel Freedom Star, working with unlicensed apprentice crew.
- Operates within a dynamic educational environment with students from diverse backgrounds, ages, and education levels.
Requirements
Minimum experience: 1 year.
- Proficiency in public speaking
- Mid-level courses require at least 5 years of maritime experience as a QMED or higher on vessels of at least 4,000 HP
- Upper-level courses require at least 1 year maritime experience as an OICEW on vessels of at least 4,000 HP
- Equivalent Military time can be evaluated; Engineman, Boiler Mate, Machinery Tech, Machinist Mate, Electrician Mate, etc.
