Job Description

Ampacimon is building AI/ML-powered grid optimization solutions, and this role helps bring those capabilities into production. As a Machine Learning Engineer based onsite in Belgium, WI, you will work at the intersection of sensor-driven data and software platforms, taking end-to-end ownership of models, reliability, and training pipelines that support both customer-facing applications and internal systems.

What you’ll do

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize domain-specific AI/ML algorithms that use sensor data alongside additional inputs such as remote sensors, weather providers, and customers’ own data, and drive integration into Ampacimon’s software platforms
  • Own machine learning models in production by keeping them reliable at scale, improving accuracy over time, and automating training and serving pipelines
  • Support the software development frameworks by providing sample algorithms and libraries
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams

What you bring

  • MSc in Computer Science or Data Science (equivalent or higher)
  • Hands-on experience applying advanced machine learning and statistical methods including regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, and neural networks
  • Experience querying databases, working with web services, and using statistical or computing languages
  • Ability to automate model variations using automated scripts or CI pipelines
  • Strong working knowledge of Python and SQL
  • Demonstrated experience deploying and maintaining ML models in production
  • Strong experience with time series data processing
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English and French
  • Comfort working in an international environment with remote teams
  • A genuine appetite for learning new technologies and taking on varied tasks

  • Working experience in Java and ONNX models
  • Experience developing customer-facing applications
  • Experience with GIS, 3D, or Lidar data
  • Experience with SCADA systems and energy-sector applications
  • Experience with unit testing

About the role

Reporting to the Lead of Software, you will take full responsibility for AI/ML models in production. This includes keeping models dependable, improving them over time, and automating training. As part of the software development team, you will also help integrate models and tools into customer-facing applications and internal systems.
