Overview

The Atlas Hotel in Boston represents a premier, first-of-its-kind property that blends local connection with global inspiration. This brand-new hotel opening offers a setting where hospitality intersects with thought leadership, providing an environment to craft memorable experiences at the intersection of research, hospitality, and inspiration. The Shift Engineer role is dedicated to keeping the property in excellent condition at all times with minimal disruption to guests and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain the hotel air conditioning system, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
  • Take required readings on equipment and test the cooling tower, recording readings.
  • Replace and program televisions as needed.
  • Replace light switches, receptacles, light bulbs, and fixtures; perform furniture repair.
  • Repair and replace pumps; perform plumbing repairs including clogged drains, copper piping, changing washers, handles, and drain fittings.
  • Read and understand blueprints and wiring diagrams; trace and repair all types of water lines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records; ensure work is performed in compliance with local, state and Federal codes.
  • Test, clean and repair swimming pools and spas.
  • Paint designated areas; repair and finish sheet rock; repair all types of wall coverings.
  • Repair and program hotel electronic lock systems.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; trade school and/or college coursework in a related field preferred.
  • At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
