Manufacturing Equipment Engineer
Job Description
Drive and improve manufacturing equipment performance at Honda’s production site in Lincoln, AL by leading technical projects, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead, create, and implement innovative technical activities and solutions for Mass Production, Business Plan, and New Model programs
- Support and achieve targets across Safety, Environment, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale
- Communicate upstream and downstream with all organizational levels to maintain shared understanding and direction
- Review and analyze daily report(s) to identify safety, quality, and delivery gaps
- Develop countermeasures and perform root cause analysis opportunities to support continuous improvement
- Use data analysis and PDCA to lead and support solutions with related groups and departments
- Monitor and manage equipment and processes to sustain optimal manufacturing performance while minimizing operating expense
- Build capability through training, mentoring, and sharing experience within the technical area
- Set priorities and make decisions using data analytics to accomplish business objectives
- Manage project implementation, including schedule, budget, and resource allocations for successful completion
- Test, evaluate, and implement new technologies to improve equipment and process efficiency
- Develop and manage investment and expense budgets to meet overall cost targets
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- Relevant experience with interest in manufacturing (e.g., Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical)
- 0-6 years experience based on education; manufacturing co-op experience preferred but not required
- Computer literate to support industry standard software applications
- Positive attitude; open minded and team player
- Strong self-motivation and interest in a manufacturing environment
- Self-managed; able to provide and set direction for others
- Leadership capabilities
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to multi-task and solve complex problems through analysis to propose and implement countermeasures based on timing, quality, and cost
- Strong technical analysis and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to manage projects

Working Conditions
- Onsite production environment requiring PPE and lockout during manufacturing operations
- Potential exposure to hydraulic oils, cutting lubricants, and ferrous and aluminum materials
- Hands-on equipment investigation and troubleshooting to determine improvement activities
- May use hand/power tools, automation equipment, quality gauging, and instrumentation
- 50% office environment / 50% manufacturing lineside activity
- 10-15 hours overtime per week possible
- Possible weekend or off-shift support as needed
- Travel: 5% (domestic and international)
