Mechanical Engineer

Taymer International is expanding its engineering capability in Claremont, North Carolina, and is offering an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and improvement of cable marking, measuring, and inspecting equipment.

Role Overview

In this onsite position, you will design and detail new and existing equipment used for cable marking, measurement, and inspection. The work includes evaluating customer requirements, preparing quotations, coordinating with production, and assisting with fabrication and field service support. You will also collaborate with Mechanical Technicians to assemble, fabricate, and service components for Taymer’s machinery in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, detail, and construct Taymer’s new and existing cable marking, measuring, and inspecting equipment.
• Evaluate customer requirements, prepare quotations, and liaise with production to ensure customer needs are met.
• Work with Mechanical Technicians to assemble, fabricate, and service components for Taymer’s machinery in the field.

Required Qualifications

• Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering degree (or similar).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Some experience with design principles and engineering change documentation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others and comfort communicating directly with customers.
• Ability to work between Engineering and the customer to determine the best fit solution.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and operate as a self-starter.
• Strong attention to detail and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Solid understanding of parametric 3D modeling; Onshape is a plus.
• Familiarity with principles of machine design.
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Software Suite.
• Ability to travel internationally.

• International business experience (asset).
• Wire and cable industry experience (asset).
• Manufacturing experience (asset).
• Understanding of electrical circuits or devices (plus).

Compensation

Pay: USD 50,000 - 80,000 per year (based on experience).
