Job Description

Network Security Engineer role at Advanced Radiology Services in Grand Rapids, MI (hybrid), focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure IT infrastructure in collaboration with hospital IT staff.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and sustain designated network security solutions with emphasis on uptime and performance in a mission critical environment.
  • Work under guidance from the Network Security Engineer II.
  • Collaborate with other teams and business units on network security needs.
  • Verify thorough testing is conducted during deployment cycles.
  • Investigate and assess new technologies and approaches, presenting recommendations to management.
  • Develop and clarify technical requirements, system documentation, training content, and change management docs.
  • Oversee SNMP based monitoring (Zabbix preferred), NetBrain, Rancid, and other network tools.
  • Partner with customer hospital IT staff to deploy and support network solutions.
  • Monitor systems and infrastructure, analyzing trends such as bandwidth usage.
  • Deploy and support network solutions within customer hospital data centers.
  • Act as a cross organizational liaison to investigate and resolve technical problems.
  • Respond to 24 hour emergency technical assistance calls per the on-call rotation.
  • Assist users in resolving escalated issues within Security and Infrastructure teams.
  • Advise management on internal and industry technology trends.
  • Contract with and supervise outside specialists and consultants.
  • Remain current on job-specific knowledge and trends through training, conferences, and seminars.
  • Document systems and applications.
  • Coordinate implementation plans with staff and outside vendors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficient in managing network security solutions including firewalls, VPN, and east-west segmentation technologies.
  • Adept at troubleshooting network security solutions.
  • Experienced with highly available and redundant network architectures across multiple carriers, circuits, and data centers.
  • Familiar with remote site, end user, and data center switching and routing environments (Cisco IOS, NX-OS).
  • Knowledgeable about end user and data center backend wireless infrastructure.
  • Experienced with physical cabling management (copper and fiber) as needed.
  • Understanding of company policies and procedures.
  • Skilled in network design, implementation, and management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Able to secure network solutions designed to protect sensitive data.
  • Capable of managing VPN solutions including troubleshooting end user VPN issues and SD-WAN.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to end users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Dedicated to supporting the team in a mission critical environment.
  • Represent the team positively and professionally with clinical staff.

Compensation

  • Salary: USD 70,000 - 90,000 per year
