Overview
Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this senior infrastructure security engineer role at GNS North America focuses on maturing and maintaining a global technology stack that spans servers, databases, and both wired and wireless networks, with a strong emphasis on security. The position provides escalation support for production facilities and on site assistance as needed, ensuring resilient, compliant infrastructure and reliable operations across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to leadership planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives to align infrastructure programs with organizational goals.
- Design and evaluate network architecture and feasibility studies, including cost analyses to inform investment decisions.
- Develop and deploy network infrastructure plans and designs that meet performance, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Define monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery strategies to keep the infrastructure responsive to changing demand.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen infrastructure security and capabilities, supporting ongoing operations and future planning.
- Execute enhancements that enable seamless connectivity across the global organization.
- Upgrade existing systems to satisfy global execution needs and data storage requirements.
- Implement security and business continuity initiatives to protect critical operations.
- Provide information technology support to team members to enable essential functions.
- Assist in diagnosing network and infrastructure issues and develop effective solutions, resources, and deployment processes.
Requirements
- Minimum of ten years of experience in computer and telecommunications networking.
- Proven training and hands-on experience delivering IT infrastructure solutions, including participation in IT certification pathways such as CCNA or CCNP.
- Familiarity with implementing infrastructure security enhancements, including defense in depth principles per NIST, VLANs, and handling of untrusted equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field is required.
