Job Description
Partner 16, Data Engineer - Global Partnerships plays a central role in scaling the data infrastructure that supports Andreessen Horowitz’s Global Partnerships work.
Responsibilities
- Own critical systems, including Global Partnerships core datasets and data pipelines, and act as a technical and strategic thought partner on data practices, automation, and scalable process design
- Design and maintain scalable data infrastructure and reliable pipelines that connect Global Partnerships systems and reduce manual work and error rates
- Maintain high standards of data precision by monitoring for discrepancies across platforms and rectifying issues
- Evaluate and implement tools and integrations to improve visibility, connectivity, and decision-making
- Identify, pilot, and scale AI tools and agentic workflows that remove manual work and increase team leverage; drive adoption through training, documentation, and change management
- Lead automation and operational scale by developing processes that improve data accuracy, reliability, and speed
- Serve as the team’s AI thought partner, staying current on emerging tools and translating them into practical, high-leverage improvements for LP-facing and internal processes
- Build visualizations and quantitative analyses for fund and investment performance insights, including projected exit scenarios, liquidity, and follow-on decisions
- Develop fluency with the firm’s portfolio company information database and manipulate/analyze data to draw insights
- Refine and calibrate portfolio performance analyses to keep them current and relevant
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience; past experience may include data analytics or data engineering
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a technical field
- Critical eye and attention to detail for written prose and charts, tables, and spreadsheets, including staying on top of changing data/facts across multiple documents
- Strong writing skills for effective communication through the written word
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining data workflows, automations, or integrations using Python, Javascript, or a comparable programming language
- Proven ability to lead ambiguous, cross-functional projects with substantial autonomy and stakeholder influence across technical and business teams
- Experience owning or administering complex data pipelines (or other critical business systems) with focus on data completeness, governance, and integration
- Low ego, high empathy, and strong collaboration with diverse teams
- Sense of urgency and professional responsiveness
- Ability to adapt to unforeseen developments while preserving attention to detail and quality

Role Details
- Location: San Francisco, CA (onsite)
- Compensation: USD 269,000 - 314,000 per year
- Role owns and advances critical data infrastructure, systems, and automation supporting Andreessen Horowitz’s Global Partnerships activities
- Operates with significant independence, leads complex cross-functional initiatives, and serves as a technical and strategic thought partner across Global Partnerships and adjacent teams
- Open to candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area
