Planning Engineer
Job Description
Based in Ashburn, Virginia, Loudoun Water's Capital Programs and Planning Department is seeking a Planning Engineer to support planning studies across drinking water, wastewater, water reuse, community systems programs, and water resource assets. This onsite role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, data-driven analysis, and shaping long-range infrastructure strategies within a dynamic public utility environment.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the analysis, planning, and operation of water distribution, wastewater collection, and reclaimed water distribution systems using hydraulic models, climate data, and alignment with operational and regulatory goals.
- Assist in developing and maintaining master plans and localized area facility plans for drinking water distribution, wastewater collection, and reclaimed water distribution systems.
- Provide technical support to Land Development and water operations with fire flows and hydraulic analyses.
- Participate in special studies for initiatives such as demand management, water demand and sewer projections, one-water planning, and other policy-oriented efforts.
- Assist in collecting, maintaining, and analyzing data to support multiple organizational goals.
- Support interdepartmental studies and other technical and policy-oriented initiatives.
- Collaborate across disciplines and departments to develop comprehensive strategies.
Requirements
- BS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant education and experience including hydraulic engineering and civil engineering design principles.
- Experience with water and/or wastewater modeling.
