Job Description

At Hologic’s San Diego campus, the Product Security Engineer will join the DevSecOps Center of Excellence to help shield diagnostic products from evolving cybersecurity threats. This onsite role centers on threat monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and partnering with product teams to weave security into the development of our diagnostics portfolio. The position emphasizes hands-on testing, collaboration across engineering and field service, and a disciplined approach to risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the industry for newly identified cybersecurity threats and evaluate risk to Hologic products.
  • Perform and document vulnerability assessments of Hologic products and provide support to product teams.
  • Assist with product development efforts addressing security and network vulnerability concerns.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test procedures to qualify operating system patches and antivirus software; design automated tests aligned with lab environments.
  • Educate the sales and service teams on topics related to network security and virus protection.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to define and implement security requirements.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Field Service resources to qualify networked Hologic products to meet customer performance expectations.

Requirements

  • Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, with 4–8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in computer and network security.
  • Experience in computer networking administration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Software application testing and maintenance experience.
  • Cybersecurity risk assessment expertise.
  • Experience with enterprise computer network infrastructure.

The right candidate for us will

  • Maintain the discipline to continuously monitor industry security threats, assess risk to Hologic products, and address risk according to established quality procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues associated with networked, computer-based products.
  • Be available for travel to Hologic offices, training sessions, and customer sites.
  • Work with limited supervision while aligning with strategic intentions and corporate priorities.
  • Possess a solid understanding of network design concepts and practical knowledge of security analysis and protection tools.

Qualifications and experiences we would like from you

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Science, Engineering, or a related technical field with 4–8 years of relevant experience in the following areas:
  • Computer and network security.
  • Computer networking administration.
  • Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Software application testing and maintenance.
  • Cybersecurity risk assessment.
  • Experience with enterprise computer network infrastructure.
  • Desirable but not essential: Medical information system administration.
  • Desirable but not essential: Software verification in a regulated industry.
  • Desirable but not essential: PACS, DICOM, ASTM, HL7, EMR, EHR, medical informatics.
  • Desirable but not essential: Technical support to Field Service and/or end-users.
  • Desirable but not essential: Security-related certifications (for example CISSP).
  • Desirable but not essential: OS and networking certifications (Windows, Linux, Cisco).
  • Desirable but not essential: Experience in the healthcare industry (provider or medical equipment vendor).
