Project Engineer - Building Automation
Job Description
On-site Building Automation Project Engineer role in New York, NY supporting project teams with engineering documentation, graphics, controls programming, submittals, commissioning, and project closeout.
Responsibilities
- Create controls submittals, shop drawings, points lists, sequences of operation, and engineering documentation.
- Design and update graphics and operator interfaces for building automation systems.
- Support controls programming, controller configuration, and system integrations.
- Assist commissioning efforts including point verification, alarm testing, trend setup, sequence validation, and closeout documentation.
- Coordinate engineering deliverables with project managers, field technicians, subcontractors, and clients.
- Maintain project documentation such as revisions, RFIs, as-built drawings, and closeout packages.
- Provide technical support to project managers and field technicians throughout project execution.
- Track engineering deliverables and open items using project management platforms.
- Assist in developing and maintaining engineering templates, graphics libraries, and documentation standards.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance engineering quality, consistency, and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience allowed.
- 2+ years of experience in building automation, HVAC controls, or a related engineering field.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and HVAC system operation.
- Understanding of building automation systems, controls hardware, and control sequences.
- Knowledge of low- and line-voltage controls wiring, networking, and blueprint reading.
- Experience preparing engineering documentation, including submittals and as-built drawings.
- Basic controls programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience developing graphics for building management systems is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Schedule and Location

USD 80,000 - 120,000 per year
