R&D Engineer

Polycoat Products is seeking an R&D Engineer to support ongoing research and development at a Polyurethan Manufacturing facility in Santa Fe Springs, CA. In this onsite role, you will work alongside the R&D Manager to prepare lab batches, perform physical and chemical analyses, and help connect new product development with production and quality control.

This position emphasizes careful, safety-focused lab work and solid documentation practices, with daily recordkeeping in designated R&D books and traceable documentation for raw material samples and incoming documentation.

What you’ll do

• Assist the R&D Manager with PPC R&D activities by completing assigned tasks in a timely manner within a Polyurethan Manufacturing environment.
• Follow all safety rules, use appropriate PPE, and exercise caution during all work activities.
• Prepare R&D lab batches as instructed by the R&D Manager.
• Conduct physical and chemical analyses on R&D batches.
• Support initial monitoring of production and QC for all new products.
• Assist the Production Manager and QC Manager with production and with setup of quality control for newly developed products.
• Maintain daily records of all R&D activities in the designated R&D book.
• Keep records of all new R&D raw material samples.
• Record and track Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and SDS for all new raw materials.
• Calibrate instruments and keep calibration records for the listed equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness in the R&D area and surrounding areas at all times.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Hands-on project or lab experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Pay and schedule

• Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
