RF Software Engineer 3 - (C++, Linux, Python)

Akina, Inc. is seeking an RF Software Engineer 3 to build and improve complex software systems that support processing-intensive analytics and real-time operations. In this onsite role in Annapolis Junction, MD, you will contribute across the software lifecycle, from debugging and testing to integrating software into new systems and operating environments, while supporting team leadership and process improvements.

Role Overview

Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems using documented requirements. Work independently or as part of a team to test components against design requirements, resolve software problem reports, and contribute to system design input, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and evaluation of COTS/GOTS alternatives. Derive software design and performance requirements from user needs, then implement and refine features, algorithms, and database or repository interfaces to meet functional and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems based on documented requirements.
• Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.
• Resolve software problem reports and debug existing software to correct defects.
• Provide input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and use of COTS/GOTS instead of new development.
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features, correct errors, adapt to new hardware, and improve performance.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
• Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.
• Develop algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards, including algorithms constrained by timing, resource, and interface requirements.
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Write or review software and system documentation and make recommendations to improve documentation and software development process standards.
• Perform quality control on team products and serve as team lead at the appropriate level for the project’s software development process.
• Oversee one or more software development teams to ensure work is completed within the project’s software process constraints.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.

Required Qualifications

• DSP algorithm development
• C++, Linux, Python, or similar development language
• Active IAT II CWIP / DoD 8570 compliant cert (Security+)
• Twelve (12) years’ experience as a DSP Algorithm developer
• Twelve (12) years’ experience with C++, Linux, Python, or similar development language
• C++ work must be in the last 10 years
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
• May substitute four years’ experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree
• May substitute two years’ experience with MS in Engineering or CS

Salary range: $256,000 - $313,000 per year.
