Job Description

Aperio Global seeks an experienced Security Data Analytics Engineer to design, build, and operate the data layer for a cryptographic discovery and quantum vulnerability detection platform. This role blends data engineering with security analytics to transform cryptographic telemetry into actionable intelligence. The position is onsite in Fort Meade, MD, with a salary range of USD 220,000 to 245,000 per year. A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize high-throughput data ingestion pipelines using Apache Kafka to support real-time telemetry streaming.
  • Create scalable transformation and enrichment workflows on Databricks and Apache Spark, emphasizing reliability, observability, and enterprise-scale performance.
  • Maintain data quality, enforce schema governance, and document data lineage across all pipeline stages.
  • Develop and deploy detection algorithms that identify non-compliant cryptographic protocols, including outdated TLS versions, weak SSH key configurations, and deprecated cipher suites.
  • Create detection logic for quantum-vulnerable algorithms such as RSA and ECC across enterprise network traffic and cryptographic inventories.
  • Iteratively refine detection models using operational feedback, false positive rates, and evolving threat intelligence.
  • Collaborate with DoW threat hunters to translate raw cryptographic discovery data into structured, analyst-ready datasets.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards using Tableau and Grafana to provide executive reporting on cryptographic posture and quantum-vulnerability exposure.
  • Document analytic methodologies and produce findings briefs and technical reports for government stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance required without exceptions.
  • Minimum five years of data engineering or security analytics experience, including production-grade pipeline development.
  • Advanced SQL and Python skills, including experience with pandas and PySpark, with data manipulation at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and/or Apache Spark for large-scale data transformations.
  • Working knowledge of Apache Kafka for real-time streaming ingestion.
