Job Description

The Security Engineer, Stores Security at Amazon.com Services LLC collaborates with software teams to identify security issues, develop automation, and guide secure design across a diverse set of software projects within Amazon Stores.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain threat models for a wide variety of software projects
  • Perform both manual and automated secure code reviews, focusing on Java, Python, and JavaScript
  • Develop security automation tools to streamline processes
  • Conduct adversarial security analysis using modern tools to augment manual effort
  • Provide security training and outreach for internal development teams
  • Offer security architecture and design guidance for initiatives
  • Independently solve security problems that require novel methods or approaches
  • Influence your team and partners on processes, priorities, and decisions to improve security outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, including penetration testing and exploit development or equivalent
  • Experience with web protocols, common security attacks, and remediation strategies
  • Ability to solve basic problems by writing code or scripts with some guidance
  • Knowledge of security concepts and technologies such as authentication, authorization, single sign-on, and cryptography

Description

This onsite role is based in Seattle, WA and offers a salary range of USD 136,000 to 184,000 per year. A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is expected. In Amazon Stores, a broad array of technologies drives customer experiences, from core ecommerce capabilities to advanced machine learning pipelines and digital services. The Security Engineer works with development teams to keep customers safe while delivering innovative services, which may involve code reviews for security issues, building reusable frameworks to accelerate secure development, or refining design for new services in collaboration with engineers.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with influence and clear communication. They should be a security generalist with areas of deep expertise, able to articulate risks to both technical and non-technical audiences, and capable of guiding partners toward secure solutions while balancing priorities.
