Senior AWS Redshift Data Engineer (Contract | 1099)
Job Description
Braintrust is seeking a Senior AWS Redshift Data Engineer to join on a full-time 1099 contract through year-end. This onsite role in Austin, TX centers on optimizing the AWS Redshift environment and the broader data infrastructure to support scalable analytics and AI-enabled workflows. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with data engineering and BI teams to improve data availability and reporting performance.
Responsibilities
- Tune and maintain large-scale AWS Redshift clusters and data warehouses to sustain high performance and reliability
- Develop and support ETL pipelines using Kafka streams and ECS-based jobs
- Enhance BI performance and data accessibility for Looker and other reporting tools
- Prepare data assets for AI-enabled applications and MCPs
- Work collaboratively with data engineering and BI teams to align data flows and analytics goals
Requirements
- Seven to ten years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or related roles
- Based in the United States
- Extensive experience optimizing AWS Redshift clusters, including environments with hundreds of terabytes of data
- Strong track record tuning, repairing, and maintaining heavily queried and frequently updated Redshift tables
- Experience configuring and managing Kafka streams
- Experience with Looker or a similar BI platform
- Familiarity with Python and/or AI-enabled data workflows is a strong plus
