Senior Cloud Security Engineer - K8s

Join Datadog to build secure infrastructure that helps engineers move faster with confidence. This hybrid role in New York, NY focuses on Kubernetes and service mesh security, partnering across internal teams to strengthen Platform Security and influence infrastructure security direction. You will help turn complex, at-scale cloud security challenges into practical solutions that improve how teams ship.

Responsibilities

• Solve Datadog’s most challenging cloud infrastructure security problems by working through core building blocks and established golden paths.
• Help engineers build and ship secure solutions quickly by enabling secure workflows and guidance that translate into implementation.
• Build and extend Platform Security solutions across Datadog.
• Leverage and influence product direction related to infrastructure security, while providing internal feedback so teams can improve products for both Datadog and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related scientific field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong interest in advocating for and implementing solutions to complex problems at scale in a large multi-cloud environment.
• Motivation to move beyond security recommendations and support systemic implementation that addresses root issues.
• Prior experience in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, or Cloud Security.
• Experience developing, deploying, and extending service mesh systems in production Kubernetes environments.
• Software engineering background with hands-on code review experience, using Go, Python, or Rust.
• Experience with one or more Kubernetes PKI and network technologies such as Consul, Envoy, Cillium, Vault, Istio (or similar).
• Experience with one or more major cloud providers and Kubernetes: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Stays current on modern security best practices, technologies, and emerging threats.

Compensation

USD 187,000 - 240,000 per year.
