Senior Controls Engineer
Job Description
Join Southco in Honeoye Falls, NY for an onsite Senior Controls Engineering role focused on improving manufacturing equipment and developing new machine control methods. This position combines hands-on controls work with project ownership, from design and implementation through installation, programming, debugging, and start-up support. Responsibilities
- Conduct root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment.
- Support continuous improvement by applying proficiency in Southco manufacturing processes, techniques, materials, finishes, documentation systems, and business systems.
- Select electromechanical equipment, materials, components, and systems to meet functional requirements.
- Review project documentation, including quotes and job specifications, and resolve discrepancies between quotes and specifications.
- Complete controls engineering, machine building, and robotic installation assignments on schedule and within budget.
- Install, program, and debug PLCs, AC/DC drives, HMIs, and servo drives.
- Interpret and maintain electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC programs, and machine layouts.
- Complete required training to support accurate and efficient performance of job duties.
- Communicate regularly with customers both internally and externally.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (electro-mechanical, industrial automation).
- Demonstrated track record of successful project completion and implementation.
- 3-5 years experience programming PLCs, AC/DC drives, HMIs, and Servo Drives; Allen Bradley and Omron preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCad.
- Experience with machine vision, Ethernet/IP, and EtherCat is a plus.
- Ability to create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming simulation and testing, and start-up.
- Panel design and layout, bill of materials, and schematic writing capabilities are expected.
- Excellent communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay: $100,000 - $120,000 annually.
Annual broad-based bonus: 15%.
