Senior Electrical Engineer - Connectivity Design

Lead electrical connectivity design and verification across complex product modules in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Identify, analyze, document, and manage requirements with traceability; coordinate verification criteria to confirm deliverables meet intent
• Conduct research and feasibility studies; document results and translate findings into recommendations, tradeoffs, and decision inputs
• Develop engineering concepts and solutions; make technical choices and resolve issues for functionality, performance, cost, and compliance
• Define and communicate specifications and high-level designs; align interfaces and support reviews and approvals for quality execution
• Support system and product integration by coordinating dependencies and applying configuration management for smooth project execution
• Define and execute validation and test approaches; improve methods and procedures; ensure qualification evidence supports release readiness
• Estimate effort, plan, and track work; manage risks and dependencies; deliver assigned work packages or projects to agreed quality and timelines
• Maintain accurate technical documentation; coach and mentor as applicable
• Follow EHS policies and identify/mitigate safety risks
• Specify, design, develop, realize, integrate, and test electrical modules and tools within a multi-disciplinary team
• Deliver within system specifications, cost targets, and project schedules; realize solutions that support competitive, achievable, and serviceable products
• Provide electrical discipline expertise across the entire product lifecycle (concept feasibility, new product introduction, sustainment, and customer-facing problem resolution)
• Take end-to-end technical ownership and lead multiple complex designs with awareness of broader system impacts and cross-functional dependencies
• Contribute to sub-module development and change; oversee functional relationships across domains and drive solutions through significant technical uncertainty
• Bridge the gap between electrical systems and system software
• Perform root cause analysis troubleshooting from system level to component level
• Support technical writing for specifications and design decisions, plus test procedures and test reports

Design activities (connectivity-focused)

• Analog and digital circuit design
• Printed circuit board design
• AC and DC power distribution design
• Interlock and safety circuit design and PLC design
• Interconnect cables and harness design
• Electronic racks, cabinets, boxes, and control console design
• Schematic capture: functional overviews, cable overviews, and detail wiring diagrams
• Technical writing: define and document specifications and design decisions

Test & integration activities

• Develop and implement the Product Validation and Verification (V&V) Strategy
• Design, develop, and build product-specific test tooling, including:
  • Simulation
  • Emulation
  • Hardware test tools
• Test V&V of product requirements, including:
  • Plan and execute component level testing and sub-module integration
  • Plan and execute module level and system level integration
• Technical writing: define and document test procedures and test reports
• Bridge electrical system validation with integration needs tied to system software

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering
• MS or PhD preferred
• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience required

Technical tools & technologies

• Electronic Design Automation
• E-CAD (preferably Mentor Graphics xDX/xPCB Designer)
• Circuit simulation tools (e.g., PSpice or other)
• Electronic laboratory equipment

Work location, schedule, and physical requirements

• On-site role in Wilton, CT
• On-site presence required for in-person work-related events, trainings, and meetings to support teamwork and collaboration
• Flexible workplace arrangement allowing remote work up to two days per week
• Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch
• Occasionally required to move around campus
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
• May require travel (domestic and/or international) based on business needs
• Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
