Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. is hiring a Principal Engineer - I&C for a 1-year contract in Aiken, SC (100% onsite), with options to extend for (2) additional 1-year option years. In this role supporting SRNS at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, you will deliver I&C design engineering analysis, field walkdowns, and engineering output document generation while working under SRNS processes and procedures with programmatic guidance from SRNS.
What you’ll do
- Provide I&C design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.
- Perform engineering analysis and support design development activities for I&C scope.
- Conduct field walkdowns of the job site for the engineering work being performed (weekly).
- Generate and support design output documents, including (but not limited to): P&IDs, Control Logics, Loop Diagrams, Instrument Indices, Setpoint Lists, Instrument and Control Valve Specifications, DCS and PLC Design, Instrument Location and Installation Design, Panel Layouts, and Vendor Document Review.
- Use SRNS processes and procedures to deliver engineering services and documentation.
Required qualifications
- Ph.D. in an applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years experience, or MS with 8+ years experience, or BS with 10+ years experience.
- BS degree in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, I&C Engineering, or current registration as a Professional Engineer in one of the above disciplines.
- Demonstrate 10 years of direct I&C design experience (within the last 15 years) in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
- Demonstrate design experience with process control instrumentation, PLCs, and distributed control systems.
- MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) proficiency is required.
- Ability to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.
- U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract security requirements.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation.

Contract, schedule, and logistics
- Duration: 1 year with option to extend for 2 additional 1-year option years.
- Work schedule: Mon- Thurs, 6:45am–5:15pm EST.
- Onsite/Remote: 100% onsite. Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate’s expense.
