Job Description

The Senior Electronic Design Engineer leads defined hardware projects for HVAC/R products with a focus on EMC, wireless, and analog/digital hardware, while providing production support and documentation oversight. This onsite role is based in Gays Mills, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

  • Lead schematic and PCB design for assigned new-product and sustaining projects
  • Utilize Altium Designer or equivalent to create and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, libraries, and manufacturing outputs
  • Design accurate, reliable, and manufacturable analog and digital circuitry
  • Translate product requirements into documented electrical design specifications
  • Develop analog and digital circuitry with emphasis on accuracy, reliability, signal integrity, noise rejection, and operation in electrically noisy environments
  • Select components based on performance, availability, lifecycle, cost, and compliance
  • Coordinate hardware interfaces with Firmware, Test, Product Management, and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware and related firmware interactions
  • Test, verify, and validate assigned designs using appropriate laboratory equipment
  • Review design work and provide technical guidance within the assigned scope
  • Own assigned engineering changes from evaluation through release
  • Investigate product and production issues using structured root-cause methods
  • Recommend design or process changes that improve quality, cost, throughput, or reliability
  • Support component substitutions, product launch, and sustaining engineering activities
  • Maintain complete and accurate design documentation, including schematics, PCB files, bills of materials, calculations, design-review records, manufacturing outputs, archives, and reports
  • Maintain industry knowledge through training, publications, technology evaluation, and professional networks
  • Contribute to team effort, including special projects and tasks delegated by the supervisor

Requirements

  • Analog and digital circuit design experience
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer or equivalent schematic-capture and PCB-layout software
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • EMC design principles, including grounding, shielding, filtering, isolation, and PCB layout
  • Wired serial interfaces, including RS-232 and RS-485
  • Digital building automation communications, including BACnet MS/TP and Modbus RTU
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and pre-compliance equipment
  • HVAC/R industry knowledge
  • Network topology and communication protocols understanding
  • Demonstrated experience designing analog and digital electronic products
  • Experience creating schematics and PCB layouts in Altium Designer or equivalent
  • Experience managing multiple design projects or workstreams
  • Five years designing analog and digital circuitry, or equivalent demonstrated capability
  • Experience using typical electronics and RF laboratory equipment
  • Experience leading assigned designs through verification, validation, and production release
  • Five or more years of electronic product-design experience or equivalent demonstrated capability
  • Experience supporting formal EMC, wireless, or regulatory certification testing
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Minimum of mid-level computer skills
  • Self-motivated, well organized, proactive and analytical
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams with professionalism and cultural sensitivity
