Job Description
Senior Equipment Mechanical Engineer opportunity at J.S. Held LLC in Chicago, IL with remote options, offering USD 125,000–150,000 per year and a travel requirement of 30–50%.
Responsibilities
- Assess and document damages across a range of mechanical and electronic systems, including machinery, refrigeration, furnaces, conveyors, elevators, UPS, boilers, medical and laboratory equipment, injection molding machinery, and industrial plants.
- Perform configuration audits to verify system setups and compliance.
- Evaluate requirements and specifications to identify suitable comparable equipment replacements.
- Conduct research to estimate costs for new and used replacement options.
- Generate written reports detailing findings, recommendations, and conclusions, typically spanning more than three pages.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with more than 5 years in engineering design, analysis, or applications
- Residence in Chicago, Illinois
- Willingness and ability to travel 30–50% of the time, with the potential for short-notice trips but not extended out-of-office periods
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Desire to learn, excel, and advance within the profession
